Arvest Bank Names Heck Executive Director of Consumer Lending

Arvest Bank is pleased to announce Doug Heck has been named executive director of its consumer lending division.

Heck, who has more than 23 years of industry experience, has served in a variety of roles during his 13 years at Arvest. In his new role as executive director of the bank’s consumer lending division, Heck will oversee consumer loan underwriting and processing, product management, and systems/technology management.

Specifically, Heck will look for ways to create products, improve efficiencies, and enhance technologies that make it easier for Arvest to meet ever-evolving customer borrowing expectations as they pertain to consumer lending.

“Doug possesses strong strategic planning and management skills,” Arvest regional executive for enhanced banking services Matt Machen said. “Those factors, coupled with his approach to everyday relationship management, make him uniquely qualified to lead our consumer lending division. He also understands the critical role consumer loans play in the lives of customers in all of the communities we serve.”

Heck earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing from Eastern New Mexico University. Additionally, he completed the Sam Walton Institute for Leadership program and graduated with honors from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado.

Among other civic endeavors, Heck has served as chairman of the board for High Aspirations, a member of the Kansas Bankers Association state affairs committee, den leader for Boy Scouts of America and coach for various youth sports teams.

Arvest Bank Promotes Gray to Senior Vice President in Fayetteville

Arvest Bank is pleased to announce Karen Gray has been promoted to senior vice president in Fayetteville.

Gray, who has served as vice president since 2007, has been marketing manager for Arvest in Fayetteville since 2005. She has more than 26 years of industry experience.

As marketing manager, Gray provides leadership for Fayetteville’s advertising, public relations and marketing efforts, among other responsibilities. Additionally, Gray has been a two-time chairperson of Arvest’s peer marketing group, among numerous other internal committees.

“Karen excels at community involvement and community development, and working with team members all across the Fayetteville region to help deepen relationships with our customers,” said Gaye Wilcox, sales manager for Arvest in Fayetteville. “It’s been said many times that Karen bleeds Arvest blue due to the passion she exhibits for helping us be successful. We are fortunate to have her and this promotion is well-deserved.”

Gray attended Grayson College and lives in Fayetteville. A past winner of the Alzheimer's Association Director's Award, Gray currently serves on the Credit Counseling of Arkansas marketing committee and the Habitat for Humanity Washington County marketing committee. Her previous civic endeavors include work with 7hills Homeless Center, Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District, Rebuilding Together and Ozark Guidance.

Arvest Bank Names Haffelder Vice President in Prairie Grove

Arvest Bank is pleased to announce Jessica Haffelder has been named vice president in Prairie Grove.

Haffelder has 11 years of industry experience and currently serves as a branch sales manager. As such, she manages the activities of the Arvest branch at 999 E. Heritage Parkway in Prairie Grove.

“This promotion is well-deserved,” Arvest senior vice president and branch administrator Francisco Cortez said. “Jessica is an energetic, determined and positive leader, and her team in Prairie Grove has seen many successes under her leadership.”

Alma High School Receives Arvest Foundation Grant

The Alma (Ark.) High School baseball program will benefit from a $5,000 donation from the Arvest Foundation.


The gift was announced today at Alma High School. Jeremy Nuckolls and Juan Preciado of Arvest Bank were on hand to present the check to Alma coach Brian Fry and assistant superintendent Travis Biggs.

With the donation, the school’s baseball team will purchase new safety nets for the baseball field, new uniforms and make improvements to the grounds.

“Our school district always appreciates partnering with the community to better our student-athletes and we are grateful for the donation that the Arvest Foundation has provided,” Biggs said. 

“When Coach Fry told us about the need for safety equipment for the students, we were excited to nominate the Alma high school baseball team for Arvest Foundation funds,” Nuckolls said. “We are extremely excited to be able to help this program and the community of Alma.”
